Buying Votes with Family Day Holiday

So the Liberals plan on buying up some votes with their latest campaign promise to add a new statutory holiday for Ontarians. Called “Family Day” it would fall sometime in the dreary month of February. Read official release here. What’s really sad is that we actually need a holiday called Family Day to remind us to spend more time with our children and loved ones. I mean, isn’t that what weekends are for?

As an owner/operator of a small business, this new proposed Family Day basically means dipping into my own pocket to pay for my employees to have a day off. A great campaign promise, but one that people like me essentially have to underwrite.

Unless Mr. McGuinty plans on reimbursing me the cash I’ll have to burn, all I can say is Bah Humbug … and it’s not even Christmas yet!

You can afford it! I need a day off!
