Well, who would have thought that celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton has a heart? A few weeks ago, Perez’s site featured a Canadian charity that is near and dear to our hearts here at MAVERICK. It’s Sleeping Children Around the World (SCAW), a wonderful charity that was founded in 1970 by Murray Dryden, father to hockey greats Ken and Dave Dryden. The charity is focused on providing bed kits and treated mosquito nets to children in poor regions around the world. We’ve been involved with the charity a few years now and every time we get coverage for them it’s a wonderful feeling.
But when Perez Hilton included a piece on SCAW in his website’s Worthwhile Cause section, it just blew me away! We have no idea how this happened, it was never our target, but we are over the moon with joy!
The direct result from this blog post …. Tons of traffic to the SCAW website and U.S. donations are up, up, up -- for the very first time.
Boy, those high profile blog mentions really do work!
